Some 120 works throw a welcome light on the Hamburg School of 19th century German painting, which certainly had an identity of its own but is sometimes slightly overshadowed by famous artists from Dresden and Düsseldorf. Artists represented in the exhibition include Runge, Speckter, Gensler, Ruths, Victor Janssen and Hermann Kauffmann (pictured).
