This exhibition reminds us in a rather wonderful way how the 19th century saw an increased artistic facination with the exotic. The American photographer and Egyptologist John Beasley Greene (1832-1856) leaves a small oeuvre of photographic prints, but they are rare and noticeable for the way in which they evince a strong sense of composition and an appreciation of the "other".
