Fuseli and women

Some 60 works have been assembled to analyse the way Anglo-Swiss artist Henry Fuseli (1741-1825) portrayed modern women. The contorted lines and elaborate costumes he used show how his art departed from much of the contemporary portrayal of women as submissively saccharine and endearing.
