Clause Monet was fascinated bby the cliffs and rock arches at the fishing village of Étretat in Normandy. He painted these several times, and it was arguably the start of his serial depiction of motifs. Some 24 of his works are now on show, supported by paintings by Delacroix, Courbet and Matisse.
